In our ongoing Meet the Team feature, we put a name and a face on the amazing members of our team. Today we would like to introduce Louis Desenberg, agent.

Where is your hometown and did you grow up around farming?

My hometown is Buchanan, located in the southwest corner of Michigan.  It is one of the most agriculturally diverse areas of the state.  My great grandparents owned an orchard, but sold the orchard before I was born.

Although I come from an agriculturally diverse area, I previously worked in the orthopaedic industry where I spent 14 years in sales in the local market.  I came to realize everything has a cycle of life and it was time for a change.

What are your clients asking you about today?

My clients are interested in Whole Farm Revenue Protection. It is designed for farmers with diversified farms to insure between 50 to 85 percent of their gross revenue, so many clients want to understand how it works and why they should have it.

What is your approach to customer service?

To me, it is simple. Customer service comes down to doing it better than the other guy.  Orthopaedic sales taught me that if you do not service your docs well, someone else will.  And there is no other customer as “needy” as an Orthopod!

How long have you been working at SIG and what do you like best about your job?

I just finished my first full year at SIG.  I like the customers and appreciate the opportunity to get to know them, understand their interests and earn their trust.  I also really enjoy the travel, I get to see some very pretty countries.

What are you most excited about?

I am excited about my new career path with SIG. Working as an agent has given me a new start and a new enthusiasm for my work and my customers. This is an incredibly rewarding job. It’s so much more than selling someone a product, it’s really about building a relationship and helping farmers protect their interests and way of life.

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know

Something not everyone knows, I worked alongside my mother-in-law for eight years.  We worked together in a physical therapy clinic.  And she still let me marry her daughter.
